Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Explore Desk mobile application (the “App”) and its companion website (the “Website”, together with the App, the “Services”), operated by Ma Com & Creations LP, a Limited Partnership registered in Scotland under company number SL037155, with its registered office at 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN, United Kingdom (the “Company”, “we”, “us”).
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Description of the Service
Explore Desk is a map-based directory that helps remote workers and digital nomads find cafés, coworking spaces, colivings, libraries, and other work-friendly places, rated on criteria such as wifi quality, power outlet availability, noise level, opening hours, laptop-friendliness, and other amenities. Listings and ratings are contributed by our team and by the Explore Desk community.
Eligibility and Accounts
You can browse the map and view places without an account. To add a place or contribute a review, rating, or photo, you need to create an account.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You may create an account using an email address and password, or by signing in with a Google or Apple account.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at contact@exploredesk.app if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
Free Access and Future In-App Purchase
The App is currently free to download and use, with no in-app purchase available. We may in the future introduce a one-time in-app purchase to unlock full access to all features. If and when this is introduced, the price will be displayed in the App and processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, subject to their respective payment and refund policies. The Company will not directly process or store your payment information. These Terms will be updated to reflect the final pricing and feature scope before this change takes effect.
User-Generated Content
The App allows you to add places and submit reviews, ratings, and photos (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you confirm that:
- You own the content or have the right to share it;
- The content is accurate, honest, and based on genuine experience;
- The content does not infringe on any third party’s rights, is not defamatory, offensive, or unlawful.
You grant the Company a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content within the App and for promotional purposes related to the App.
We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or remove any User Content that violates these Terms, at our discretion, without prior notice.
Location Data
With your permission, the App uses your device’s GPS location solely to center the map and show nearby places. This location is processed locally and is not stored on our servers. You can control location permissions through your device settings; some convenience features may be limited without it.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or duplicate reviews;
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose;
- Attempt to access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the App or its systems;
- Harass, abuse, or harm another user through the App;
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute the App’s content or database without written permission.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, logo, name “Explore Desk”, and underlying database of places and ratings, is the property of the Company and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or exploit any part of the App without prior written consent, except for the User Content you submit.
Disclaimer
Information about places (wifi quality, hours, amenities, etc.) is provided by the community and our team on a best-effort basis and may not always be accurate or up to date. The Company does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of any listed place and is not responsible for your experience at any third-party location.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of enjoyment, or issues encountered at a listed location.
Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be notified within the App where reasonably possible.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be submitted to the competent courts of Scotland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws applicable to your country of residence provide otherwise.
